Recently I met a new organization… The Piper Fund…a Proteus Fund initiative.

Actually, that’s two organizations.

First, the Proteus Fund. I very much like its tag line: “Justice through democracy, human rights & peace.” This is a collaborative grant maker, focusing on “some of the most cutting edge issues of our time.”

And one of its programs is called the Piper Fund. The Piper Fund – an initiative of the Proteus Fund – “invests in leading edge efforts to address undue corporate and special interest influence on our democracy.” Since 1997, the Piper Fund has awarded $27 million in grants to various organizations in 46 states.

Currently, the Piper Fund is working on the Judicial Independence Project. The most recent update, July 16, 2015, includes the following items:

And, the Piper Fund just released a new toolkit… Fair Courts Toolkit: Reproductive Rights.
