Our
perspective on strengthening your organization
We believe that the success of an organization depends upon its
ability to build four critical relationships. These are:
- Your relationship with the community which assures your
organization's relevance. This is accomplished through strategic
planning.
- Your relationship with constituents to secure contributions of
time and money. This is accomplished through a comprehensive
constituency development process which includes communications and
cultivation.
- Your relationship with volunteers which is defined as your ability
to enable volunteers.
- Your organization's internal relations which encourage dialogue,
enhance decision making, develop shared leadership and learning, and
promote holistic organizational development.
To build these relationships, you must understand the needs and
motivations of your constituencies. And, you must be able to explain how
you meet these needs. Equally important to your effective operation is a
relevant mission, shared values, sound structure, and clear definition
of roles, responsibilities and expectations.
Enhancing your
capabilities
Joyaux Associates helps your leaders develop their capabilities. We
don't just perform a service, we work hard to leave behind skills and
ideas so that the organization is able to operate with increased
effectiveness.
We offer a continuum of care - from comprehensive assistance to
periodic advice and counsel. We tailor make services to you. We do not
force you to fit into any template. We act as advisor, coach and mentor.
We also provide hands-on assistance by staffing committees, preparing
agendas and minutes, and developing systems, procedures and materials.
Making your organization stronger means learning and change. You have
to see the whole system and how its various parts relate. Joyaux
Associates does not approach business as usual. Instead, we help you
reconceptualize the way you work. We help you analyze your problems and
opportunities; define solutions; and, develop resources to carry out
solutions.

Joyaux' book Strategic Fund
Development: Building Profitable Relationships That Last is
described as "...an important work if we are to be serious about
positioning our institutions for the future...the essence of what we as
development professionals should understand and be prepared to address
as we look to the 21st century..." and a "...powerful and insightful
book that provides a framework for leading organizations through
change."
The second edition, published in March 2001, has been expanded
greatly from the first edition. This new edition includes an entire
chapter on creating a fund development plan that builds ownership and
