Check out these resources… Think about them. Share them. Apply them.

• Most men would rather shock themselves…  Should we laugh? Cry? Nod yes? Hmmmm…. (From Jill Pfitzenmayer, the director of the Initiative for Nonprofit Excellence at the Rhode Island Foundation, where Tom and I have given 70% of our estate. (100% of our estate goes to charity; 70% to RIF)

• I need some white privilege! … I think this is brilliant. I think everyone with unearned privilege should read this. Unearned privilege includes race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, etc. As I always say: I’m a white, heterosexual, well-education woman. I win except for gender – because it’s a disadvantage to be a woman in every country in the world, including the U.S.A. But as a white heterosexual, I have unearned privilege. (From Cathy Mann, Canadian consultant and social justice fighter.)

And for more about unearned privilege, read Peggy McIntosh‘s work. And read my piece, Philanthropy’s Moral Dilemma.

Edward Tufte is an expert at visual display of information. Read his books. Take a course. Pay attention. Also check out Inge Druckrey‘s video about design thinking. (Thanks to Louisa at the Women’s Support Services retreat last weekend.)
