December 18, 2014

I’m a huge fan of Bloomerang, the marvelous and wonderful fundraising database — which is based on Adrian Sargeant’s donor loyalty research. And, that guy I know, Tom Ahern, is the communications coach for Bloomerang.

Bloomerang has an e-news and a blog. And the Bloomies just sent out their list of top “40 Fundraising Blogs You Should Be Reading in 2015.” Top 40… Drat. I don’t even subscribe to 40 blogs let alone read 40. But this could be one of my New Year’s resolutions. The Bloomies are recommending. And I know lots of the recommended people and, indeed, they are great.

So look at the list. Make sure you read the descriptions for each blog. Bloomie writer Steven Shattuck’s descriptions are cool and funny and to-the-point. For example:

  • Jeff Brooks’ marvelous blog, Future Fundraisising Now. Here’s Steven’s description: “Jeff Brooks is to the nonprofit sector what Seth Godin is to the for-profit sector. His posts are short on word count, but long on substance.”
  • And the Agitator’s description: “Roger Craver and crew’s content is worth paying for. Subscribe. It’s worth it. I’ll reimburse you if you disagree.”

And now to the compliment part of my headline. I’m honored and proud and “tickled pink” to be on the list of 40. And I’m breathless (which most people who know me couldn’t possibly believe) at what Steven said: “Not much more can be said about Simone Joyaux, ACFRE, Adv Dip beyond the universal praise and admiration the sector has for her. She is the godmother of fund development, board development and strategic planning, and everyone should do whatever she says – all the time.”

Hmmm… I just might print up little cards featuring what Steven said — like a business card — and use it with my clients. Because (here’s my dirty little secret)… sometimes I just want my clients and my presenting audiences to just do whatever I say…all the time!

Thank you, Steven for the lovely compliments. Thank you Bloomerang and all you Bloomies for all you do. (My clients who use Bloomerang just gush and giggle and smile and actually get on their thanking knees because of you all.) And thank you to chief Bloomie, Jay Love.

P.S. For those of you who know about my relationship with Tom Ahern, Tom is on the Bloomie 40 list, too. Happily, there can be peace in the office building tonight!
