Books

The Song for Arbonne, Guy Gavriel Kay
Kay is a great writer of science fiction fantasy. He has so many wonderful books – and I've read them all! Tigana. The Lions of Al-Rassan. Sailing to Sarantium (2 volumes). Under Heaven. The Fionavar Tapestry (3 volumes…Arthurian). Ysabel. And more!

Jack Reacher Series, Lee Child
Adventure. Mystery. Police action. Crime thrillers. Jack Reacher is an ex-military cop and loner. I keep waiting for Reacher movies. Who do I want to play Jack? Hmm… Make sure you read other Reacher books before 61 Hours. Spoiler alert: Big happening in 61 Hours and you want to avoid that for a long time.

Chronicles of the Cheysuli, Jennifer Roberson
Science fiction fantasy of 8 volumes – about shapechangers. Must start at the beginning and end with the end.

Karavan Series, Jennifer Roberson
Science fiction fantasy in 3 volumes

Outlander Series, Diana Gabaldon
Historical romance and adventure. Even my life partner Tom reads these Jamie and Claire books. Each volume is really long – yippeeeee… And I think we're up to volume 8 at this time. Must read in order because they end in the middle of a sentence!

Cork O'Connor mysteries, William Kent Krueger
Spoiler alert: Something important happens in one of the later novels, so you'd best read in order.

Kate Shugak Series, Dana Stabenow
Oh my. Wow. I've been reading Kate's stories for years. She's a private detective living subsistence lifestyle in Alaska. Start at the beginning because… In one of the volumes there's a huge change…before and after that seminal happening. I read that particular traumatic novel on an airplane, post 9/11. And had to stop myself from ranting and raving.

No Safe Place, Protect and Defend, Exile, Degree of Guilt, Richard North Patterson
This is NOT James Patterson. Richard North Patterson writes novels that feature the Middle East conflict, the U.S. Supreme Court, the death penalty. Sometimes his books make me cry. Patterson is a political activist and philanthropist.
