A couple weeks ago I was listening to Bob Edwards Weekend on NPR. Edwards was interviewing Umberto Ecco about his new book The Prague Cemetary.
Here’s a powerful statement from their conversation: To hate allows us to avoid our own responsibility.
So if I hate, I can blame someone else. If someone else is to blame, I’m not guilty. I’m innocent. I’m not responsible. I’m not accountable.
To hate allows us to avoid our own responsibility. How pathetic and disgusting and sad is that?
