Guess what I learned the other day: You know all those armories in U.S. cities and towns? Some are pretty great looking. But why were they built? These armories were not built for the Civil War. The construction is more recent.
These armories were built so soldiers could gather to put down the labor movement. Wow. The early days of union busting.
And now, in the good old U.S. of A., we continue to embrace union busting. Just look at Wisconsin, ending collective bargaining for public sector workers. I’m appalled. I’m disappointed. I believe in the labor movement. I believe everyone has the right to bargain collectively. And I think the labor movement is a vital counterbalance to corporations.
