Guess who’s going to the Winter 2010 Olympics? All of Canada’s heads of state. Not just the Canadian Premier. “In an Olympic first, native leaders will receive the same recognition and privileges as Obama or Sarkozy would.” Meet Canada’s other heads of state, four aboriginal leaders, the chiefs of the Four Host First Nations. The Winter Olympics happen on their turf.

– Tsleil-Waututh: Justin George, tribal chief

– Musqueam: Ernie Campbell, tribal chief

– Lil’Wat: Leonard Andrew, tribal chief

– Squamish: Bill Williams, tribal chief

Is that great or what? Recognition. Respect. Equity. Maybe Canada will set a trend for other countries, even the U.S.
