Who knew? I didn’t… Newly-elected Senator Scott Brown from Massachusetts once posed nude in Cosmopolitan. You’ll note that didn’t stop him from getting elected. But nude posing would stop a woman from getting elected — so said 66% of respondents in a 60 Minutes / Vanity Fair poll. 77% of the responding women said a woman wouldn’t win under such circumstances; and 56% of the men said the same.

That’s called a double standard. Just another example of gender bias.

Maybe you’ll think this is petty – but it’s really annoying to many women, me included. The dad says, “I’ve got to babysit the kids tonight.” Mom’s don’t usually say. They’re your kids, dad. You take care of them.

And of course, women still aren’t paid as much money as men for the same work. And and…We’re socialized into gender bias, you and me. But I sure wish we’d all fight it more. Men and women!

Check out the most recent study by the Women’s Fund of RI. Does your state have this kind of information to fight for equity?
